He said the wheat harvest will cover the country's requirement of wheat for human consumption, with wheat for human consumption well exceeding 50pc. The harvest of autumn wheat is estimated at 3.8m tonnes, with an average yield of 3.8 tonnes per hectare. The average yield of autumn barley is 3.6 tonnes per hectare, with barley harvested from 185,000 hectares nationwide. The harvest of cereal crops totalled 5.985m tonnes from 1.681m hectares in 2009, according to the Central Statistics Office (KSH).
