Hungarian wine maker starts Tokaj deliveries to CostcoState-owned wine maker Tokaj Kereskedohaz will start deliveries of Hungary's famous Tokaj dessert wine to Costco, a big US membership warehouse chain, this week, CEO Istvan Kiss said. |
The first orders will be for the 2001 vintage of Tokaj 3-puttonyos aszu, Mr Kiss said. Mr Kiss announced in April that the company had signed a ten-year agreement to deliver an annual 250,000 bottles of Tokaj wine to Costco, Mr Kiss said. The order is about one-tenth of Hungary's wine exports to the US, he added. Tokaj Kereskedohaz exports about 40pc of its wines.
Hungary's wine exports to the US came to USD 3.9m in 2009.
